The "Marcelismo" (period during which Marcello
Caetano was in office) represented a transition
period, which was self-designated as a period of
“Renewal in Continuity”.
Despite the economic growth and some of the first
attempts to blunt the harsher edges of the regime,
the new President of the Council could not find a
solution for the political deadlock, which should be
the end of the Colonial War and the adoption of a
multiparty system. |
